While preparing the material for the magazine, I decided to look up my publications – because all of a sudden I had a strange feeling that you always answer one and the same questions! This is really so in fact, if you look what I was thinking about and writing about while answering the similar questions, then nothing special has changed during these years. The only difference that lies is in the facts – everything was being planned at the beginning, and while nearing the present day everything was being implemented! During the first years everything was said with some exagerrations, with the desire to materialize the things thus planned, and as for today the note of the speeches is more quiet with the assured constatation of the achieved. That is why I have made up my mind to write about the things that the journalists never ask about or simply because I didn’t happen to hear such questions.
The most interesting thing in my way of life is the constant swiching to different spheres of activity: the creative one and the administrative one. I am often reminded about it by the state officials tired with constant tensions: they say you feel fine, you can swith over to others things, you can sit down, play the piano, go give some concerts.
Of course, if one plays for yourself as many practice today while studying already being grown-ups, singing or playing instruments, then this is realy the case. But when this is your professional activity, then the measurements are quite different then – terrible tension, constant stress, incredible efforts for the concentration, the necessity to accumulate higher energetics etc.
What is amazing – if a concert is successful then the next morning after it you feel yourself happy, renovated and light! And then after some time everything is repeated: one is to study and prepare a new programme, and this is always a tormenting process of searches, doubts, creative anguish. As often happens in such periods, especially before a concert, you have to participate in some council, meeting, must go from one official to another, write letters, to persistently try again and again to reach some objectives instead of sitting in the queit silence looking at the sky or turning towards your inner world, contemplate the nature around you, to feel the higher things.
Nevertheless, this need is somehow satisfied in my life. I remember the time once when I was flying back after the concerts and master-classes with the pianists of the Seoul national university. Many of the students had been playing absolutely perfectly and it had been a pleasure to teach them too. «Imbibed» with the music I love during a whole week I was sitting in the aircraft, was partaking of the excellent Korean viands and with the earphones on I was listening to the second slow part from the Brahms First piano concert. There in the illuminator were 10 000 meters of abyss above ground level, a whole sea of clouds, the endless stretches of the sky and the unhurried tempo of the music coinciding with the measured buzz of the motors and the majestic hovering of the aircraft! The indepth meaning of music is manifested in the higher spheres (in the figurative and direct meanings). You kind of approach the heavenly source and the tears of joy lift your soul.
Generally there in my life were many impressions connected with the road. As it usually happens, I had to speedily fly to Astana. I am always late and come to the airport at the last possible moment – when it seems to be impossible. The flight is in the day time and there are jams in the streets at their hottest. It is a catastrophic «time trouble»! I take a car with the whole complement of usual stress feelings. And suddenly from among the general commotion which seems to have caught the whole universe there in the cabin of the car starts playing quietly the famous «Bolero» by Ravel. I make a guess – if we are lucky with the duration of «Bolero» by Ravel lasting 20 minutes, then I won’t be late for the aircraft and the last sounds of music will come to an end while entering the airport. The experts remember that this play is gradually unfurled from piano to forte, from the translucent texture to one more saturated, from ascetic intonations to the boisterous colors and harmonies. The music at first was meditative as if accumulating energy for the future explosion. I didn’t even notice at the time that I stopped paying attention to the movement of the transport, my glance went to the tops of the trees and then still higher – to the sky, to the sun. I and my music flew through the material space, lifting above reality, sensing the existence of a multiple intercrossing worlds. I was lucky – the barrier before the square of the airport opened up at the last solemn accord of this great music!
Sometimes I hear the opinion of our colleagues-men who deem that it is easier for me as a woman to be a leader as well as to solve all the issues at work at the state level. This view is perfunctory as well as is the opinion that women are hindered everywhere, that it is more difficult for them to make a career because of the well-known masculine schauvinism. My deep belief is that what is more important is not the gender to which a leader belongs but the level of his mentality, professionalism, managing skills, the qualities of a personality. Of course here there is touched upon the problem of gender equality. This problem is at the mental level, and this is why for a long time to come there in the public consciousness will remain the opinion that to work under the leadership of a woman is undesirable, and as from the point of view of the Kazakh traditions to work under the leadership of woman for a man is even totally unacceptable. I do not see any demerits in feminine leadership, if the women as well as men possess all the necessary qualities of a leader. Unfortunately at all times it was very hard to correspond to the ideal image of a leader for men as well as women.

In time you realize more and more that you work for the future. And in our conservatoire it was very interesting for the past several years to grow up the future of the country. In essence, the future of any country at all times has a huge potential, varied talents, active desires and the task set by any society is to create all the necessary conditions for its development.
The modern life of the conservatoire is in the maximum conditions for today for the perfection of the natural gifts and talents of our students, the provision of the necessary professional skills for the creative youth. We strive to be at the level of the modern requirements of the study process, to organize the large-scale international cooperation, to create the ideal model of the musician of the XXI-st century. It is not accidental that thanks to the mighty support of the state, also thanks to the attentive attitude of the sponsors towards us and also thanks to the foreign partners of the joint projects we manage to implement most of the things of which we couldn’t dream even a few years ago. I can sincerely say that everything which is happening to our youth, first of all their professional and creative results – I was expecting to receive in 15 – 20 years’ time from now… I am greatly surprised and of course I am very glad with the successes of our students, especially at the international arena.

We strive to be at the level of the modern requirements of the study process, to organize the large-scale international cooperation, to create the ideal model of the musician of the XXI-st century.
Beginning from 2005 to 2014 the students of the conservatoire – not only the soloists but also the students’ choir, the orchestra of folk instruments, the symphonic orchestra – annually participated in the competitions, festivals, concerts, performed almost in all the famous halls of the planet. Their performances were highlighted by the biggest mass-media of the world: The Independent, New York Times, International Herald Tribune,Washington Post, Berliner Morgen Post etc. All the foreign concerts were shot and recorded and are broadcast by the English, German, Italian TV-channels.
In our turn we initiated multiple international projects, many of which became traditional and are carried out now on the regular basis. One of them is the international competition of pianists, which the conservatoire carried out for the sixth time last year. But to tell the truth there in the whole world with the development of communications and with the more democratic and less demanding attitude towards quality are held so many competitions that they cease to be something extraordinary. But still competitions differ. The level of the intellect, culture, professional achievements of the participants of our competition is formed by several decades of hard work and it requires extraordinary qualities of a personality and talent. Unfortunately today we often meet other examples when the participants of such competitions practically are unable to do anything or they have just started to learn but in accordance with the laws of show-business they are declared to be «stars» and «superstars». As if we forget that what is difficult is that which is normal. By some reason everybody wants only holidays and entertainment, there in their thoughts – «the amazing levity of everyday life»!
However our pianistic competition is a unique competition because its participants are real heroes. They follow their own road in the conditions when the majority goes quite in the opposite direction. When one comes to think of it, the talented classical musicians enter the spiritual elite of mankind; they do not expect instant recognition, they are often misunderstood, they are not protected materially, in many countries they are not needed. We exert our efforts tenfold for the organization of competitions in order to support the youth, our future colleagues not only morally but materially too. Because any victory, the deserved triumph of our professional life gives us the temporal feeling of happiness and the understanding of inevitability of the endless striving for perfection.
On the whole our task is to attract the attention of the world musical community to the educational processes in Kazakhstan, the creation of the stimuli for the upbringing of the younger generation of Kazakhstani pianists and in the long run – for the raising of the level of our competitiveness in the world of the more perfect technologies connected with the quality of human potential.

Constantly and tensely you are looking for the answer not only for some creative issues, but also for the social, philosophical, cultural-study ones. You must understand what is there which is happening in the world, in the country, what prospects are awaiting you, what it is that you must and can plan! I trasfer my thoughts on to the paper, I have many notes which I make while I am travelling by air, in the waiting hall. It is not difficult for me to write down some notes. I also write about the impressions, on how I understand the world of music through which I sense the whole other world. What is the book for? Of course, for communication. Through communication we find those who hold the same views as we. We all deem ourselves from our point of view to be true and if we find another person who thinks the same way –then it’s such a great happiness. All the spectators who come to the concerts – they are the people who hold my views. They have come, tearing themselves away from something routine. As is well-known many people spend their leasure time in the restaurants, entertainment centres or just lie on the sofa before the TV-set…
And during this time the world is quickly changing, and this is normal… before art and culture were part of ideology and they were executing the state order. There in the theatres were staged a limited number of plays and authors. Mostly there dominated the classics. The modern music, jazz were prohibited. More or less there developed the folklore sphere. And quite natural it was that the people at first rushed to the pop-music, rock-music, the contemporary modern plays staged in the theatres but very quickly there came the moment of satiety. Besides this there in the epoch of market economy art is forced to become a product which requires great financial investments. That is why today of topicality is the change of the repertoire, direction, there are needed modern plays, new stylistic peculiarities, new ideas and forms of implementation. At the same time the situation with the perception of classical music and on the whole of eternal values in our society is improving every year. It is to be admitted that we professionals are so «spoilt» by the classics that it is difficult for us to listen to popular music specially – it seems to us too simple and accessible. But when we take a rest or go in for sport – why not, we do it with pleasure.
It is about this and about many other things interesting for me and the readers, i.e. not only about the facts but about the process, in which there happens the most important and crucial things that I am rarely asked in interviews, at the meetings. But everything is changing quickly, as well as there is widened the field of our consciousness, the range of our interests, tastes, preferences. For me it is pleasing and very important to be published not only in the specialized journals but also for the audience who are distant from the issues of cultural life, musical education and art. The global task for the figures of culture is to be interesting, to attract with their searches, to look for those who hold the same views with them and who can be found in the most unexpected places and spheres of our society.
