Galymzhan Nurmanovich BIMURZAEV, Director of the State Clinical Hospital of the Turkestan Medical College on right of economic management, candidate of medical sciences, corresponding member of the International Academy of Psychological Sciences, professor of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. He was awarded with the jubilee medal “20 years of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, the international medal “Hippocrates”, the medal “For Contribution to the Development of the South Kazakhstan Region”, the breastplate of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Ybyray Altynsarin”, gratitude letters from the President of Kazakhstan N. Nazarbayev (2003, 2011, 2014), Excellent worker of Public Health of the RoK. He has the title of “Honorary Citizen of the City of Turkestan”. On December 16, 2015 he was awarded with  the Order “Kurmet” according to the Decree of the President of the RK.

Turkestan Medical College, which is headed by Galymzhan Nurmanovich is one of the oldest secondary vocational educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan. For its half-century history, the college has trained more than 40,000 highly qualified specialists who successfully work in different parts of our republic.

Galymzhan Nurmanovich BIMURZAEV has been heading the college since 2009. Thanks to his outstanding organizational talent, Turkestan Medical College is today a prestigious educational institution and the leader in the republic.

Galymzhan Nurmanovich, tell us please about your college. What is the basis of its facilities and resources?

Now, the college has a powerful facilities and resources: 2 educational buildings, 105 specialized rooms and modern modification laboratories, educational television, electronic library. Good equipment of classrooms with modern information and computer technologies makes it possible to widely use visual information (presentations, training programs) in the educational process. The college organized 5 training simulation centers for surgery, therapy, obstetrics, nursing and pediatrics. There is also a modern Training and Rehabilitation Center, Instrumentation and Control System Center, debriefing rooms, 5 computer classes, SMART-center for therapy, Center for Alternative Medicine, hospice and palliative care training center and training center for medical ergonomics. The pride of the college is the anatomical museum, phytobar, phyto-city, educational pharmacy, modern dental clinic and sports complex.

What is the procedure for practical training of students?

Practical training of students is carried out in accordance with the actions plan and the schedule of the educational process in the pre-clinical training rooms and in the basic treatment and prevention institutions of the city and the region. As part of the social partnership, the college cooperates with 42 leading health institutions of the city and the region. Clinical practice within these measures is conducted under the supervision of specially trained mentors from the number of senior and chief nurses.

Within the framework of international cooperation, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed with the Utena and Kaunas Colleges of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Lithuania.

Educational process in the college is conducted by 209 full-time teachers, while 93 of them have higher medical education.

Among the teaching staff, 39% are teachers of the highest and first category, 3 holders of post-doctoral degree in medicine and 7 candidates of medical sciences, 29 masters, 6 Honors of Health of the RoK, 5 holders of the breastplate “Ybyray Altynsarin”, 4 were awarded with the medal “For contribution to the development of the South-Kazakhstan Region”.

The teaching staff constantly improves the teaching methods and introduces innovative technologies into the educational process. There is a rating system embracing all disciplines of teachers work. To do this, the college created a rating program for methodological and educational work of a teacher. A creative group of  college's teachers developed and patented 25 electronic textbooks on clinical subjects in the Ministry of Justice, which won 12 prizes at the Republican contest “The best textbook and the best teaching aid for medical colleges.” 35 teachers passed English language courses.
